Industry Development Board

The Industry Development Board (IDB) coordinates the marketing and public relations activities of the Metal Powder Industries Federation toward expanding the market for powder metallurgy parts and products. IDB strives to increase the awareness of PM technology to the consumer as the preferred metal-forming solution.

Ongoing Activities & Resources

PickPM Website – Created for current and potential users of PM components, the website includes a searchable Directory of Suppliers and a plethora of information that is useful to an end user of PM components.

Website Analytics – Different techniques to track visitors to the family of websites are used to identify the effectiveness of the websites and the provided information.

PM Showcases – Educational technical presentations are provided by PM industry experts promoting PM, under the direction of MPIF.  In addition to the presentations, hundreds of PM parts are on display to promote discussions with engineers and purchasing personnel at the OEM.

PM Industry Day – MPIF member parts and powder producers are invited to exhibit their technologies on site at the OEM.

Promotional Process/Application Videos – Numerous videos are available for use by the user to better understand the PM process, learn through case studies, and appreciate the success of PM applications.

Design Excellence Awards – Competition since 1965 with winners recognized during the annual conference, through trade magazines, LinkedIn posts, etc. IDB sets the entry rules, coordinates the solicitation for entries, identifies the judges, and promotes the activity.

Advertising – Videos, static ads, and case studies are promoted through several different media outlets.

Industry Awards – Several awards are under the auspices of IDB, including the Landmark Award, recognizing PM products, production processes, equipment and/or materials that have had either a significant impact in PM usage or a significant PM innovation, and the Vanguard Award, recognizing industry champions from end-user companies

Brochures – Flyers, pamphlets, and primers are available for immediate download, illustrating the process, market segments, and applications.
